Plane Goes Down at Hartfield Airport
MAYVILLE, N.Y. -- After what was a lovely Father's Day spent with family, the air of residents of Hartfield NY were full of the sound of sirens and household scanners going off. An Erie man was injured when his biplane crashed Sunday afternoon in Chautauqua County, N.Y. just north of the Dart Airfield in Hartfield.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office identified the pilot as Dennis Williams. Luckily the pilot only sustained minor injuries and even refused futher medical treatment.
Williams, 64, took off Sunday at about 4:14 p.m. from Dart Airfield, near Mayville, when he said he had some mechanical problems shortly after takeoff and was forced to crash land just in some light brush on the north side of the airfield.
