When leaving to go on a trip, most plan the trip out with a schedule of plenty of things to do If it is a certain number of days that a trip is planned, it is often times pre-scheduled as to what will be visited or done on each of those days..
In Chautauqua one day might be spent at some kind of a park, another may be spent shopping and yet another may be spent sight seeing This page will offer you some interesting things to do to and fill up a day or two of your trip without having to research everything out.
Hopefully, this article can provide some ready made, day long Chautauqua things to see and do and popular Chautauqua activities ranging from visits to the Lake Erie/Chautauqua wineries to visits to the beautiful NYS parks in the area to a trip through the amish communities.
A GRAPE DAY:
In the Westfield area, you can start your visit at the NOBLE WINERY where you will see the best view in the Lake Erie grape belt as you will be overlooking miles of vineyards with your eyes reaching far out into Lake Erie where you may even be able to catch a glimpse of Canada on a clear day.
Next, stop by JOHNSON ESTATE WINERY for tasting and browse the gift shop. On your way back into town, be sure to cool off with a refreshing ice cream cone from the Westfield News Room.
Finish the day off with a walk through the beautiful VILLAGE OF WESTFIELD and be sure to visit the ANTIQUE SHOPS, MOORE PARK and the LINCOLN/BEDELL STATUE.
For dinner you might choose ZEBRO"S on Barcelona Harbor, or CALARCO'S on Market Street in Westfield.
Shopper's Love Chautauqua
It is not a secret that there are some days that are just meant for shopping and when it’s brought up, the reaction is, "Let's Go".
There are some places here in the Chautauqua area that are not to be missed. Let me clue you in on some great Chautauqua shopping places while we find more Chautauqua things to do, Chautauqua places to go and Chautauqua things to see.
Lets start with Chocolate.
This is a favorite of so many people and if you don't shop anywhere else while you're here in Chautauqua make sure you stop in and buy some WEBBS chocholate It is the best chocolate you will ever have. Favorites in the store include goat milk fudge, pecan frogs and molasses sponge candy. It’s been a family owned business for over 60 years where all the candy is made by hand. The candy is truly the very best.
Your next stop on your shopping trip should include a place where you can find unique gifts. THE WOOL WORKS can keep you warm and toasty with sheepskin slippers, hats and mittens. Amish rocking chairs and leather belts can be purchased here too. Several other unique gifts keep customers coming back to their two locations on Martin Road in Westfield and to Crossroads Markets on Sherman Road in Westfield
Next Stop
Visitors like shopping at CROSSROADS because they can find things that they can't always find in other shops. One of the greatest things about Crossroads Markets are the friendly nature of the place and the people. Another great thing about Cross Roads Markets are the samples. Many stands at Cross Roads give samples. That's fun for kids and adults.
Although it has a number of shops and cool things, there is also food, but not ordinary food. My most frequent purchase - Ostrich Meat. It's really quite good. Samples are available. It's healthy too. Other great food shops at the market sell spices, maple and honey products, amish made goods, coffee products and candy. Gifts are available too such as jewelry, pottery or wood made products. You may even be able to find an antique if you're lucky.
Next head over to FINDLEY LAKE.
A quiet community with a small, yet beautiful lake, can be a great trip just to see the quaint small lake town. But Findley Lake is also filled with a variety of unique shops including the Nostalgia at the Blue Heron Inn. Shop here for gifts, toys, games and candy. Find some very interesting buys. Findley Lake is filled with several other shops that visitors love too. So leave plenty of time for shopping and sightseeing here.
By this time its probably almost time for lunch so end your shopping for the day back near Chautauqua at The RED BRICK VILLAGE...
Here you will enjoy many things to do including shopping at a top of the line furniture store, a miniature doll house shop, and a culinary shop. The small outdoor type mall can be enjoyed by visitors for hours. Other things to do here include strolling through the flower garden, making time for an ice cream cone at the homemade ice cream shop and dining at the famous French restaurant, La Fleur, also located on the premises.
Tomorrow is another day so head over to the other side of Chautauqua Lake and start your shopping trip in Bemus Point where you will find an array of other fabulous shops. Find some fantastic buys and leave room for wandering the lakeside town and dining in the spectacular sandwich shops or Chautauqua restaurants. Most things to do here are within walking distance of each othe
